Backstory
A 'great gross' — 12³, and famously one less than the taxicab number 1729 = 1³+12³ = 9³+10³. It also appears in Klein's j-invariant as the constant in j(τ) = 12³ · g₂³/Δ, tying modular forms to elliptic curves.
