9801
the answer for puzzle #17
The five clues
- A four-digit perfect square exceeding 9000.
- A four-digit perfect square whose digit-reversal is also a square.
- The square of a two-digit repdigit, whose reciprocal cycles through nearly every two-digit block.
- Reciprocal 1/9801 expands to 0.0001020304050607080910...
- Missing only '98' in the parade of two-digit blocks.
Backstory
9801 = 99² and 1/9801 = 0.000102030405…9799000102… — the decimal cycles through every two-digit number except 98 before returning. The 'missing 98' is due to carry from the tail 9899 into the next period.
